AUSTIN, Texas — We're one step closer to getting records the Texas DPS has been keeping from the public since the Uvalde school shooting.
A judge ordered DPS to release certain records. It's a final judgment in a lawsuit filed by more than a dozen news organizations, including KHOU 11 and its parent company, TEGNA.
The order lists more than two dozen DPS records, including documents the agency referred to as the road map to its investigation.
That includes crime scene photos, video, audio recordings and officers' personnel records.
The court is allowing DPS to redact things like Social Security numbers, dates of birth and sensitive images.
DPS has until Dec. 28 to appeal, which they have said they intend to do.
