Interim Dallas Police Chief David Pughes has fired a Dallas police officer following a hit-and-run incident.
Dallas Police Department posted an announcement on its Facebook page.
An internal investigation revealed Senior Cpl. Stephen Cantina was involved in a hit-and-run incident in August 2015. Cantina later turned himself into Farmers Branch police, where he was arrested and charged with accident involving damage to a vehicle. Police said Cantina also used city equipment other than departmental or city business.
Cantina joined the Dallas Police Department in 1997. He was assigned to the Field Services Division.
Cantina has the right to appeal.
