IRVING, Texas (AP) - Former President George W. Bush is hosting his fourth annual golf tournament for military members who were wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Bush said Thursday that the Warrior Open could be characterized in different ways: "One, you can call it the 'courageous open,' or you can call it 'there's no self-pity here open."
Twenty-one active and retired military members are participating in the two-day tournament that began Wednesday at the Las Colinas Country Club in the Dallas suburb of Irving.
The wounded warriors are participating in a 36-hole tournament. The Warrior Open also includes a pro-am in which the military members are playing with PGA Tour professionals.
The Warrior Open also highlights several military support organizations that give assistance to service personnel and their families.
