AUSTIN, Texas -- Austin's second area code goes into effect Monday.
Any new phone numbers could begin with 737 instead of the old, familiar 512.
State regulators expect to run out of 512 numbers by the end of the year.
Ten-digit dialing took effect June 1 to help people get ready for the transition.
The Public Utility Commission estimates Austin won't need a third area code until 2047.
