ORANGE, Texas (AP) -- A 15-year-old boy has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars after admitting to killing a Southeast Texas teacher with a gunshot to the head while at her home.
The boy was sentenced Wednesday in the Feb. 20, 2011, shooting of 46-year-old Staci Lisenby in the kitchen of her home in Orangefield. Lisenby was a teacher at Orangefield Junior High School in the community of about 700 residents near the Louisiana border about 100 miles northeast of Houston.
Under the sentence, the boy will serve in a Texas Juvenile Justice Department detention center until he turns 18, when he would be moved to a state prison to serve the remaining years of the sentence.
