16-year-old drives himself to east Harris Co. grocery store after being shot in the chest, deputies say

A 16-year-old was shot in the chest at a different location, but drove himself to a grocery store on E. Wallisville Road and Wade Road, according to deputies.

HOUSTON — Deputies are looking for a suspect after a teen showed up at an east Harris County grocery store with a gunshot wound Sunday afternoon.

The 16-year-old was shot in the chest at a different location, but drove himself to a grocery store on E. Wallisville Road and Wade Road, according to deputies.

Witnesses who saw the teen pull up to the store immediately called 911. Once deputies and first responders arrived, he was transported to the hospital.

Deputies said this seems to be a targeted, isolated incident because the victim told authorities he knew who shot him.

The victim is expected to survive.

A gun was also found in the victim's car.

Anyone with information that can lead to an arrest is encouraged to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
