Suspects throw rocks and break windshields of passing vehicles

TOMBALL, Texas - There was a scary situation for drivers on the Grand Parkway Wednesday evening.

Deputies say they got several reports of someone throwing rocks at cars as they went through a toll booth.

"This is one of the impacts here and then it just spread up through the windshield," said Kristy Hutchins, a mother who says her car was hit by the rocks.

It's a drive Hutchins always takes home; however, when she was driving down 99 between 2920 and Boudreaux, she says someone threw a rock at her windshield.

"It just kinda was a big huge pop, kinda sounded like a firework or a gunshot," she said. "The glass was just everywhere all over me... it went to the backseat,"

When she went back to the scene, Hutchins found out she wasn't alone.

"There was two 18-wheelers," she said. "They had two officers behind them and we noticed they had the same thing, their windshield was busted out."

Hutchins says one of the big rig's dash cam caught two suspicious people on video.

"They were around the toll booth, they had to be throwing rocks or whatever they are throwing to actually be able to break a windshield," she said.

We called the Harris County Sheriff's Office and found out they had three reports of rocks hitting cars.

"Do I want to go under that toll again, is there somebody there, are they going to do the same thing to my other car?" asked Hutchins.

She said she is just glad one of her kids wasn't in the passenger seat at the time.

"I really think it's not right, someone could actually be killed," said Hutchins.

We called the Harris County Toll Road Authority. They didn't know about the reports made to the sheriff's office, but did reassure us they have security patrolling too.
