SPRING, Texas Tragedy has struck more than once for a Spring family.
There s not much left of the home on 23302 Whispering Willow. The flames even reached the cars parked in the driveway. Someone called the fire department around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. The firefighters arrived and fought the fire, but couldn t save the woman inside.
Fire officials cannot confirm the identity of the body found.
After speaking with the husband we know that there is a female missing and we have a body in the house, said Lt. Dean Hensley with the Harris County Fire Marshal s Office.
Neighbors said the woman leaves behind two children and a husband, not home at the time of the fire.
Family and neighbors declined to speak on camera understandably. But what makes this fire even more tragic is that it happened a year ago at the same home.
In January of last year, the home on Whispering Willows caught fire, starting from the heater. The sleeping family inside got out safely thanks to their dog. The family attorney said the dog had cancer and was put down three days ago, sadly, not alive to save the mother this time around.
They are going through the house and actually they ve been able find some things. A wedding album and some other things I m sure they re going to appreciate having, said family attorney Anne Singley. The family is asking for at this point in time. Needless to say they re very devastated.
Devastated that in the end tragedy claimed the lives of a woman and her beloved pet.
