HOUSTON -- A Houston runner has set a world record in the 100 meters at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Perth, Australia.

Houston's Bill Collins, 65, established a new record for the 65-69 age group on Sunday, crushing the field with a time of 12.17 seconds.

Collins and Houston's Bob Cozens were profiled last week by KHOU's Jason Bristol. Cozens, 80, finished third in his age group with a time of 15.6 seconds.

Collins, a former All-American at TCU, also set a world indoor record earlier this year with a 7.69 mark in the 60 dash. The old record was 7.81.
