HOUSTON — Hundreds of students at a Houston elementary school were treated to a visit from Santa Claus and his squad during a surprise party Tuesday.
The children at Young Elementary on the south side cheered, laughed and danced as they received gifts, including Astros ballcaps and Orbit Bobbleheads.
The 500 excited pre-K through fifth graders were brought out in groups to meet Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves.
The students and staff also got surprise visits from Houston legend Paul Wall, the Texans Cheerleaders, mascot Toro, KHOU 11's own Len Cannon and Mia Gradney and HPD Chief Troy Finner.
"The energy was electric!" Mia said. "We're talking megawatt smiles on everyone's faces."
Everyone, including Mia and Len, danced and sang before enjoying lunch provided by Dominos for the kids and Gatlin's Fins and Feathers for the teachers. Some of those kids had some serious moves!
The Daisie Foundation and the Houston Police Department partnered to host the event at the HISD school.
