The San Jacinto River is receding, but there are still several roads that are you can't drive in the Humble area.
It's a spot we just couldn't get to without a little help from Ken Dugas.
"It's probably 15-16 inches right now," said Ken Dugas, a homeowner.
He has a higher truck and drove us through the only road into this part of the Belleau Woods subdivision.
"Normally this is all yard area right here, grass," said Dugas.
Dugas had a foot of water inside his home.
"We are gonna pull all these panels off the walls here and pressure wash the whole area and bleach everything," said Dugas.
However, most homeowners on the San Jacinto River consider themselves lucky.
"If it would have come up six more inches it would have been in my home," said Clay Avery, a Belleau Woods resident.
Now neighbors wonder how long will it take for the river to return to it's banks.
"The ground is just soaked, there's no place for the water to go," said Norman Lopez, another Belleau Woods resident.
"We're used to it but it still is frustrating," said Dugas.
There's a lot of cleaning up to do, but to these river residents, it's the price they are willing to pay for a piece of paradise.
"Definitely worth it," said Dugas. "We have our little piece of heaven back here."
