HOUSTON - One person was killed in an attempted robbery inside a Houston restaurant Friday evening in southwest Houston.
The incident happened at Huong Giang Hue restaurant on Bellaire Boulevard near Cook Road around 8:45 p.m. Friday.
Police say two men entered the restaurant wearing ski masks and held up employees and customers at gun point. The suspects took cash from the register and were in the process of taking other items when one of the customers stood up from a table.
Authorities say the suspect was startled when he saw that the customer was twice his height. He then shot the customer, who police say died at the scene. Officials say the man was shot in front of his family, including his son, who appeared to be 5 or 6 years old.
Police say the customer grabbed the gun when the suspect first shot him and used his other hand to take off the suspect's ski mask, revealing his face. Authorities believe they may have video of that suspect's face in surveillance tape from the restaurant.
The suspects drove away from the scene, and it is unknown how much they got away with during the incident.
