LEAGUE CITY, Texas - Expect detours and delays on Interstate 45 this weekend, as construction crews intend to close north, south main and frontage lanes of the freeway at Calder Road.
The road closures are scheduled to begin, weather permitting, at 7 p.m. Friday and should last through 5 p.m. Sunday, Bill Babbington, an engineer with the Texas Department of Transportation, said.

The closure is necessary to safely demolish the remainder of the Calder Road overpass spanning the freeway, Babbington said.
The $21 million project, which was awarded July 2007, is designed to improve I-45 access to state Highway 96 and development along Brittany Bay Boulevard, Babbington said.
The project, which will elevate I-45 above a six-lane crossing of Highway 96, is expected to be completed next March, Babbington said.
During the closures, authorities will direct northbound traffic to the Calder Road exit, and drivers will turn right on Calder and then left onto the northbound I-45 frontage road.
Those traveling south on I-45 will be detoured to the Calder exit, where they will follow the exit ramp around Calder then return to the southbound frontage road.
Information on scheduled lane closure is available on the Houston TranStar Web site, www.houstontranstar.org.
