HOUSTON Hotels are out to make lifelong clients and they re turning to their youngest of patrons to do it.

Reenishia Washington s daughter, Morgan, is nine year old. She s a competitive gymnast and dancer.

Washington booked a suite for Morgan earlier this summer at the Embassy Suites Energy Corridor. It s where Morgan, along with 30 of her friends, celebrated her 9th birthday.

The idea came from some of the other dance moms and gymnastics moms, said Washington. They had had some of their kids parties at different hotels and her dad thought it would be a good idea.

They played in the hotel pool and primped and partied in the room. The hotel staff not only welcomed the girls, but was eager to please. At the end of the party they gave her a complimentary gift basket with all sorts of candy and a happy birthday card, Washington said. It was great. We were pleasantly surprised.

From the Embassy Suites Energy Corridor Hotel to the Omni Houston Galleria Hotel, and nationwide, more hotels are catering to kids with special services and amenities.

We ve got a good area for a lot of kids to be in here, said Chris Coleman, the operations manager at the Omni Houston Galleria Hotel. He s happy to show off the Omni s Kids Fantasy Suite, complete with a music corner, sports zone and TV, plus gaming console. The hotel recommends it to guests for everything from birthday parties to staycations.

Whether it s pajamas and pancakes, or whether it s movie night or princess night, we just enjoy. We have fun with it, Coleman said about his staff s eagerness to setup the room.

The cost for the Kids Fantasy Suite is about $229. That s more than some parents have spent on a birthday party at home.

Washington said she s easily shelled out $600 before. This year, $300 at the hotel and she s sure it s one of the best parties her daughter ever had.
