The Galleria is getting another batch of new-to-Houston retailers and restaurants, Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE: SPG) announced March 9.
The announcement comes the same day that the first of four highly anticipated restaurants opened in The Galleria. Fig & Olive, a Mediterranean cuisine eatery, officially opened for lunch March 9. It occupies 7,000 square feet on the street level of Galleria IV and is the New York-based concept's first Texas location. Joining Fig & Olive in the curved Philip Johnson-designed façade of the former Saks Fifth Avenue space will be Nobu, Spice Route and Blanco Tacos + Tequila.
According to Simon’s announcement, Japanese restaurant Nobu will open its 10,000-square-foot Nobu Houston location this summer. It will be on the second level of Galleria IV and will have private elevator access. Arizona-based Fox Restaurant Concepts’ upscale Mexican eatery Blanco Tacos + Tequila will open this fall, per the announcement. The 4,475 square-foot eatery will be on the ground floor of Galleria IV across from Fig & Olive and will include an expansive patio.
Three other first-to-market concepts will open soon:
• Sugarfina will open in May in a 410-square-foot space near Galleria Financial Center. This “candy store for grown-ups” specializes in confections such as champagne-infused gummy bears and chocolate-covered almonds in the shape of martini olives. It will be the company’s first standalone Houston boutique, though there is a mini-shop inside the Galleria Nordstrom.
• UntuckIt will open a 1,986-square-foot space on level one near Saks Fifth Avenue in May, per the announcement. The brand provides sleek but casual clothing and started as an online-only store in 2012 that offered dress shirts that are made to be left untucked. It’s since expanded to include sweaters, polos, jackets, sweatshirts, performance wear, tees, henleys and accessories. TRENDING
• Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling will open an 865-square-foot boutique on level one near the Galleria Financial Center in July. Several retailers around Houston offer Breitling products, but this will be the company’s first dedicated boutique in the area.
