Officials said the shelter in place has been lifted for students at a New Caney elementary school after a nearby gas leak on Friday afternoon.
According to New Caney Independent School District, there was a gas leak at a construction site near Crippen Elementary.
The school district says the school day will resume normally.

"Fire and police officials have determined the area around Crippen Elementary is now safe. The school is no longer sheltering in place. Officials have indicated that traffic around the campus is now flowing normally. The school day will continue on a normal schedule."
