Woman injured while running for help during fire

Firefighters say a woman suffered a broken ankle while running to get help during a fire overnight.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Firefighters say a woman suffered a broken ankle while running to get help during a fire overnight.

Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday Klein and Cypress Creek firefighters responded to a home near Cutten and Bavaria.

Firefighters said a fire started at the back of a home, sparked possibly by a cigarette. A female resident tried to put the fire out but then went running for help. She hurt her ankle and was taken to the hospital.

The fire department was able to stop the blaze before it spread to the inside of the home and a neighbor’s home. The garage was burned to the ground, however.
