Sugar Land says 'no thanks' to SugarDaddie.com

A popular dating website says it will offer the City of Sugar Land more than $4 million to rename itself after the dot-com’s Web address.

SUGAR LAND, Texas Sugar Land has turned down nearly $5 million to rename itself SugarDaddie.com for the next 10 years.

The dating website upped its original offer of $500,000, but Mayor James Thompson said thanks, but no thanks.

We re really not for sale, Thompson said.

SugarDaddie.com is a niche dating site that caters to affluent men who want to meet attractive, young women.

A spokesman for SugarDaddie.com said the offer was serious.

The company is trying to put itself literally and figuratively on the map, Darren Shuster said. It is certainly a marketing campaign.

The website has propositioned at least two other cities with the word sugar in their name.

SugarDaddie.com said it is also hoping to meet with the President of the Sugar Land Skeeters ball club after learning about their previous sponsorship deals. No meeting has been scheduled, however.
