Police: Family members used phone tracker to find deceased motorcyclist 15 feet below elevated highway in League City

Family members told police they last heard from the man Friday night. When he didn't arrive home, they began searching for him using the Find My Friends app.

LEAGUE CITY, Texas — League City police officers are investigating the death of a motorcyclist found by his family members Sunday morning.

It happened along North State Highway 3 near Washington.

Police said a little after 11:30 a.m. Sunday, they were called about a deceased man at that location. When they got there, they were met by the man's family members, who pointed them toward where he was. 

The man and his motorcycle were found about 15 feet below the elevated portion of the highway, according to police.

Family members told police they last heard from him on Friday around 9:15 p.m. When he didn't come home, family and friends said they began searching for him using the Find My Friends app.

The app showed him at the location off of North State Highway 3. Family and friends searched for him by vehicle and foot on Saturday, but he wasn't found. Police said a missing person's report was filed around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man's body and motorcycle were eventually found when family and friends returned Sunday morning.

The identity of the man has not been released.

League City police and its crash team investigators are looking into the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the League City Police Department at 281-332-2566.
