HOUSTON — A woman was rescued Friday during a house fire in Houston's northside, according to the Houston Fire Department.

This happened on Clear River Drive, which is just east of Homestead Road.

According to HFD, there were two people in the house at the time of the fire. Officials said the fire may have been started by a space heater used to keep dogs warm in the house's garage.

One person was able to make it out of the house but a woman had to be rescued. She was taken to a nearby emergency room. The dogs were OK.

The department asked people to avoid the area because of heavy emergency traffic.
