MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A man and a woman were found dead Monday in a home south of Lake Conroe, investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies were called around 8 a.m. to the home on Omeara Road near Eastchase Street for a welfare check. That's when they found the bodies of a man and a woman, identified as 31-year-old Fernando Fernandez and 24-year-old Arazeli Ruiz, who had been shot.
Deputies said two elementary-aged children were in the house and were not injured. They were handed over to family members.
Deputies said a family friend went to the house to pick Fernandez up for work and noticed the front door was open. Deputies said the friend went to a neighbor's house and called 911.
Investigators are trying to find out the motive behind the killings.
"This appears to be an isolated incident that only involves the two deceased people," the sheriff's office said in a release.
Authorities said they're not sure if there were any previous calls for service to the home and neighbors said they didn't know the couple that lived there.
Investigators said they were looking around for cameras in the area that could help them find out what led up to the shootings.
