Former Missouri City officer charged with manslaughter in deadly crash freed on bond

Blademir Viveros is charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

MISSOURI CITY, Texas — A former Missouri City police officer charged in a wreck that killed a mother and son is out on bond.

Court records show Blademir Viveros had his bond lowered to $500 before his release. He's facing charges of manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he crashed into a family's vehicle, killing two people inside on June 20. Viveros was relieved of duty days later.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Viveros was driving 80 miles per hour, which is double the posted speed limit, without emergency lights or sirens when the crash happened.

Angela Stewart, 53, and Mason Stewart, 16, were killed in the wreck. The teen was behind the wheel at the time. DPS said he pulled out of a parking lot and their vehicle was hit by Viveros.

Mason Stewart's father, Rodney, said his son had just turned 16 that day.
