Here's how to get a free ride to the polls with METRO

Registered voters can enjoy free round-trip rides to vote on local buses, METRORail, METRO curb2curb and METROLift.

HOUSTON — With early voting and Election Day approaching, METRO hopes to make getting voters to the polls easier.

Registered voters can enjoy free round-trip rides to vote on local buses, METRORail, METRO curb2curb and METROLift.

In order to ride, all you have to do is show your voter ID or other approved documentation to the bus operator or fare inspector.

In addition, METRO has teamed up with Vote Houston to offer "nonpartisan and educational information" to registered voters.

Free rides will be available within METRO's service area during:

  • Early Voting: Monday, Oct. 21 – Friday, Nov. 1
  • Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 5

METRO's Customer Service team can also answer questions and provide trip planning information at 713-635-4000.

Important dates for the Nov. 5 general election

  • Last day to register to vote: Monday, October 7
  • First day of early voting in person: Monday, October 21
  • Last day to apply for ballot by mail: Friday, October 25
  • Last day of early voting in person: Friday, November 1
  • Last day to receive ballot by mail: Tuesday, November 5, which is Election Day.
