HOUSTON — There's a big event happening this weekend that you'll want to put on your running shoes for.
Memorial Park's new running complex is opening to the public on Saturday. Earlier this week, we got a preview. Runners from the Houston Marathon Foundation were training there for our cameras.
The running complex is on the south side of the park. It includes a 400-meter timing track, viewing decks, an event plaza, gathering spaces and much more.
The Memorial Park Conservancy said this running complex takes the park to a new level.
"So we'll have the timing track. We have the running trail center that already exists with the showers and the lockers," President and CEO of Memorial Park Conservancy Shellye Arnold said. "We have the event plaza and these will all be open on Saturday. And then next year, early next year, we'll be opening a cafe as well to complete the running complex so you can come back out for that.
You can check it out on Saturday at Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The weather should be perfect.
