'Running lots of tests' | Houston's Mattress Mack gives update on his condition from hospital bed

"I drove to work and for the first time in 43 years, I missed the exit," he said in the update. "That should've told me something was wrong."

HOUSTON — On Saturday, Houston businessman Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale announced he's in the hospital with cognitive issues.  On Sunday, he gave more details about what landed him there.

"I'm down here at St. Luke's Hospital in the emergency room having a little trouble with some cognitive things but I'm sure I'll be alright because they have great doctors a the Texas Medical Center and I will be fine," he said in Saturday's message.

On Sunday, he posted another update explaining more about the issues he was experiencing.  McIngvale said it started on Friday when he was nauseous all day.

"I drove to work and for the first time in 43 years, I missed the exit," he said in the update. "That should've told me something was wrong."

He went on to say that when he got to work, he couldn't remember what day it was. That's when a mobile stroke unit came to check him out and take him to St. Luke's.

"The people at St. Luke's are running lots of tests to find out what's wrong with me," McIngvale said.

McIngvale previously had a stint in the hospital with a stroke scare in June 2019. At the time, he said it was something he's had to deal with throughout his life.
