HOUSTON – A maintenance worker saved a resident at an apartment complex in Alief on Monday morning.
According to the Houston Fire Department, the fire was reported in the 12700 block of Rodeo Square around 10:30 a.m.
The maintenance man, Wilfredo Cordova, rescued a man who could not walk, he told KHOU 11 News in Spanish. He said he used his foot to break a window and pulled the man out.
In all, six units suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage. Two people were taken to the hospital to get treated for smoke inhalation.
It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
There was no official cause for the fire, but officials speculated that something may have been left cooking on the stove.
