THE WOODLANDS, Texas — The Lone Star College campus in Conroe got quite a scare Thursday when an alert went out campus-wide placing the school on lockdown.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the alert went out after a woman who was driving near the campus on College Park Drive heard a loud band and initially thought she had been shot.
However, after further investigation, deputies determined that a deer had collided with her vehicle and broken her windshield.
The sheriff's office wanted to be clear that there was not an active shooter on campus even though it was briefly place on lockdown out an abundance of caution.
There was no threat to students and the public.
Lone Star College CyFair was also on lockdown Thursday
In a separate incident, Lone Star College-CyFair in Cypress was also placed on lockdown Thursday.
This time, it was because the Harris County Sheriff's Office was chasing a suspect when they entered LSC-CyFair's parking lot.
The suspect was caught and the lockdown was lifted.
