Recognize them? Women accused of swiping nearly $2K worth of liquor in Cypress

Video captured the women inside a Spec's liquor store in Cypress. Authorities say they match the description of a similar theft in Copperfield.

CYPRESS, Texas — Officials are asking the public’s help to identify suspects in connection to a theft at a liquor store that happened earlier this week.

The Precinct 4 Constable’s Office responded to a reported theft at a Spec’s liquor store on Cypress Rose Hill Road in Cypress on Aug. 20 just after 3 p.m.

In surveillance video, four women are seen with products in their hands and running out the exit of the store. Officials said the alleged thieves had 47 bottles of liquor with them worth about $1,900.

They were seen driving away in a black sedan with no license plate.

“It's certainly a terrible thing what happens once, but now we're starting to see a pattern where it's happening multiple times,” Pct. 4 Capt. Jonathan Zitzmann told KHOU 11 News in an interview.

Zitzmann said the suspects in the surveillance video match the description of those involved in a similar theft at a Spec’s location in Copperfield on Aug. 13.

He said the incidents match a troubling trend in theft crime.

“Years ago, when people were committing theft, whether in liquor stores or grocery stores, they would hide things in their clothing or they would hide things in a purse,” Zitzmann said. “Now people are becoming very bold, and they're just picking up items and walking out of the store, That kind of changes the dynamic a little bit.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact law enforcement.
