HOUSTON — A man who was killed in an early-morning crash near River Oaks may have been speeding, according to Houston police.
He lost control while heading westbound on Kirby Drive near Shepherd Drive around 2:30 Tuesday morning.
"Unfortunately, he left the roadway, hit a curb, started driving straight, ran into one tree, bounced off that tree and then slammed into another tree," HPD Sgt. David Rose said.
The victim was trapped inside the silver Infiniti Q50 and Houston firefighters had to use the jaws of life to reach him.
"The damage to his vehicle is pretty catastrophic," Rose said.
The man was 34 years old but his name hasn't been released.
No one else was in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved.
