KATY, Texas — If you see a large police presence at Katy Mills Mall Sunday night, don't worry. The City of Katy said it and the mall will be conducting full-scale active threat training.
They said the training was scheduled weeks in advance and is intended to test emergency response plans.
The training will last from 6 p.m. to around 10 p.m., according to the city.
"The public should be aware that the training is a simulated event and not a real emergency," the city said. "The public should be aware that the training may involve the use of simulated weapons and the presence of emergency response vehicles and personnel."
The city asked residents and customers to avoid the training area while it's ongoing.
"The public may notice an increased presence of emergency response vehicles and personnel in the area during the training."
