HOUSTON — A toddler who was injured when the rideshare van she was in with her father has died, according to Houston police.
The wreck happened on March 3 on the North Freeway service road. The child died Monday, just over a week after the crash.
According to police, the Uber driver was behind the wheel of a white Toyota Sienna with a mother, father and the 3-year-old in the back seat. Police said the Uber driver was near West Gulf Bank and Sweetwater Lane when the driver of a white Ford F-350 hit the Seinna from behind and took off.

The Uber driver then reportedly took off after the driver of the Ford, with the two colliding at the intersection of I-45 and West Road. The child and father in the Sienna were injured and taken to an emergency room. From there, the child was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
At this point, we don’t know the condition of the child’s father, but he was said to be stable after the wreck.
The driver of the Ford left the scene, but police said he was stopped by witnesses. According to police, he showed signs of intoxication.
Neither of the drivers were taken to the hospital. During their initial investigation, police said they each gave conflicting accounts of what happened.
The case will be referred to a grand jury. At this point, no identities have been released.
Shortly after the crash, Uber told KHOU 11 that they had removed the driver's access while the investigation was ongoing.
