Need last-minute flowers for Valentine's Day? Check out 'Flower Row'

If you’re pinched for time and still need to get something special for your loved one, they say you can’t go wrong with the classics.

HOUSTON — It's Valentine's Day! If you're still in need of some last-minute shopping ideas, flowers are always a great option.

KHOU 11’s Michelle Choi stopped by Houston staple, Fannin Flowers, one of the few shops in the city still open 24 hours.

The manager said it’s been non-stop busy with customers coming in since Tuesday.

Located in an area known as Flower Row on Fannin Street, between downtown Houston and the Texas Medical Center, Fannin Flowers has been offering fresh-cut flowers to customers since the 1980s.

If you’re pinched for time and still need to get something special for your sweetheart, they say you can’t go wrong with the classics, we're talking about flowers, chocolates, and stuffed animals.

Customers we talked with said 24-hour flower shops are a huge help when it’s crunch time.

"Really good, especially at the last minute. We both work, me, and my girlfriend, so it's kind of hard to hide things around the house, so I'm just lucking out that it's so close to me and easy to come to,” Jacob Beacham told us.

It's not just boyfriends and husbands who are running in. Diana Gonzalez stopped by to show her hubby some love.

"I got a few balloons and some flowers for my husband, trying to make a small surprise for him,” she said.

Valentine’s Day isn't just for your significant other, it's also a great day to show appreciation for folks you care about.

Victor Ihezukwu works for Texas Southern University, he stopped by to purchase roses for his school staff.

"We are passing out flowers from the president all the way to the deans, your admins, your DPS officers, and your custodial staffers too,” Ihezukwu said. “We're just trying to make sure everybody feels loved, on the day of love itself."

Fannin Flowers said the most popular flower arrangement this Valentine's Day is the classic two-dozen roses.
