HOUSTON — Many Southeast Texas residents woke up Wednesday to damage in their communities after strong storms swept through overnight.
We've received pictures of a tree on a car in Spring, trees down and broken fences in La Porte and a bank sign in a yard in Katy.

Katy
The National Weather Service said a brief tornado hit the area around 2:45 a.m.
The tornado caused a Firestone Tire Shop in the Katy area to collapse. Video of the business on Mason Road, not far from Kingsland Boulevard, shows the collapsed sign and caved-in roof.
Monica Abboud, a Katy resident, sent us pictures of a bank sign in her front yard.
Houston
KHOU 11's Michelle Choi saw some fallen trees blocking roadways in north Houston. The trees appear to have pulled down power lines as well.
Monica sent over a photo of a tree blocking a passageway near Hirsch Road and Kelley Street.
In the skies, Deborah Griese was able to capture video from her Southwest Airlines flight as they flew through the storm. Griese said she took off from Hobby Airport.
La Porte
Sandra Villarreal sent over photos of damage to her backyard after a storm moved through her area. A part of her fence was broken and her trees were snapped.
West Columbia, Texas
The Live Oak Garden Apartments in West Columbia, Texas took a major hit during the storms. Parking coverings were ripped from their screws and thrown across the complex. Check out the pictures below sent from Lauren.
Klein
Just so you can get a peek of how severe the storms were, check out this lightning video sent in from Preston Castillo in Klein.
A street sign was left hanging in an intersection after storms blew through the Klein area, according to Harris County Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman.
Spring
In Spring, a driver suffered minor injuries when a tree fell on his car as it was moving, the Spring Fire Department said. This happened on Birnham Wood Boulevard at Towergate. Crews got the driver out of his car and treated him for his injuries.
Richmond
In the Richmond area, first responders were called to several fires in the area that were believed to be caused by lightning or by weather, according to the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal's Office.

Damage in other parts of SE Texas
Our sister station 12News Now in Beaumont reported severe damage and flooding across the area.
Major flooding was reported in the Kirbyville area of Port Arthur and several homes appeared to be severely damaged in the overnight storms.
