Sheriff: Two dead in fiery crash in northeast Harris County

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, one vehicle ran a red light and was knocked into a light pole by another vehicle. That's where it burst into flames.

HOUSTON — Two people are dead after a fiery crash in northeast Harris County Sunday, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

It happened near East Sam Houston Parkway North and Little York. According to Sheriff Gonzalez, two males, a 17-year-old and 19-year-old, were in a Camaro when they ran a red light at the intersection and were by a Toyota Camry with two women inside. The men's vehicle was  sent into a light pole, where it burst into flames. Both people inside the Camaro were killed. 

Gonzalez said the women in the Camry stayed at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication.  The investigation is ongoing.

Editor's note: Originally on Sunday night, Gonzalez posted that the striking vehicle ran the red light, striking the other. In an updated post, Gonzalez said that it was the vehicle that was struck that ran the red light.
