HOUSTON — Two Houston-area school districts are hosting job fairs this weekend in the search for teachers, substitute teachers, nurses, counselors and librarians.
The Lamar Consolidated Independent School District is hosting its job fair on Saturday, March 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Foster High School, located at 400 FM 723, Richmond Texas. The district said opportunities are available at more than 50 of its campuses in nine departments. That includes:
- Nursing
- Teaching
- Counseling
- Librarians
- Special education assessment
All job applicants are encouraged to bring several copies of their resume because there will be opportunities to meet one-on-one with recruiters. There will also be campus and district representatives, including teacher certification programs, who will meet with attendees at the fair.
Lamar CISD said the starting teacher salary for the 2023-2024 school year is $62,500.
Aldine ISD is also holding its job fair on Saturday, March 2. The event will be held at Davis High School, located at 12525 Ella Boulevard, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Aldine ISD is looking for teachers, associate teachers (who are non-certified teacher candidates with a bachelor's degree), substitute teachers and auxiliary workers, which include bus drivers, custodians, food service workers, maintenance and police officers. Applicants are urged to bring their resume, proof of certificate to teach or currently seeking teacher certification and bachelor's degree or statement of eligibility.
The district said representatives from all campuses and district departments with be at the job fair to interact with applicants.
