HOUSTON (AP) - Houston's top police agencies won't release their policies on how officers will turn on or turn off body cameras they're currently testing.
The Houston Chronicle reports that its requests for details from the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff's Office have been denied.
Houston police spent $108,000 on 100 cameras that are the size of a pager and go on the front of an officer uniform. Officials are also asking for $8 million to buy cameras for 3,500 officers.
But the department won't say how officers will decide when to use them. Neither will Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia.
Body cameras have received heavy attention in Texas and nationwide after multiple high-profile instances of officers killing suspects.
