Murals, a really big duck and so more to see around Houston this weekend

The weather will be perfect, so check out what Houston's got to offer!

HOUSTON — With the weather improving in Houston, it’s a great time to head outdoors for fun activities.

Big Walls Big Dreams Mural Painting Festival is an annual mural fest.  This year it runs from Sawyer Street in the First Ward to the East end.

"It’s about civic pride, engaging the community,” said organizer Elia Quiles of Up Art Studio,

Some 30 murals will go up.  Here’s a map of their locations

"We did an open call," Ella said. "We had more than 800 applications from around the word.”

Thanks to grants and sponsors, the artists are paid. That’s a key goal for the organizers.

“We help individuals make the transition from street art to fine art or to the corporate world,” Elia and her husband Noah Quiles said.

QR codes are being added to each piece so you can learn more about the art and artist.

Each piece has a spin including one still under construction that will allow you to access an animated filter over the mural!

There is also the Buffalo Bayou Mural Festival, which runs through October 20.

And especially fun for the kids, the Houston Pumpkin Festival goes through October 27.  Tickets start at $18.

They have everything from kayaks to corn pits and beyond!  They even have a giant duck in the pond!
