Another lawyer suspected of helping to smuggle drugs into Harris Co. jail, according to court records

One Houston-area lawyer has already been charged. Now court documents suggest another lawyer helped two suspects in a drug-smuggling scheme.

HOUSTON — There’s new information on the Harris County Jail drug smuggling investigation.

On Monday, we told you authorities suspected other lawyers were smuggling drugs into the jail. Now, new search warrants and court records back that up.

In this new case, two suspects are accused of orchestrating a scheme with the help of a Houston attorney. We're not naming that lawyer because they've not yet been charged.

The method of operation is the same as the one revealed by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez earlier this week involving drug-laced papers passed by hand during attorney client meetings.

Retired Houston lawyer Ronald Lewis is charged in that first case and authorities say the drugs could be tied to two deaths.
