Worldwide tech glitch affecting hospitals in Texas Medical Center

Memorial Herman said their computers were down for around two hours. Harris Health has canceled elective surgeries for the day.

HOUSTON — A massive worldwide outage caused issues in the Medical Center overnight in Houston.

Memorial Hermann told KHOU 11 the outage caused their computers to go down for at least two hours this morning.

A spokesman with the hospital says thankfully there was no impact to phones or patient care. Computers have since been restored.

Harris Health also said elective hospital procedures are now canceled for the day. Impacted patients will be contacted by Harris Health to reschedule.

Their dialysis services remained open at Harris Health Quentin Mease Health Center throughout the outages..

At 11:28 a.m., Harris Health resumed appointments at outpatient and clinic sites were resuming, but some network systems were unavailable.
