HOUSTON — You may notice flags at half-staff around the Houston area this week. That’s to honor the late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, who died earlier this month.

The flags will be at half-staff as events honor the life of the late Congresswoman, who died July 19 after battling pancreatic cancer.

According to the City of Houston, Gov. Greg Abbott approved Mayor John Whitmire’s request to have the flags at half-staff at Houston City Hall and all municipal buildings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Those are also the days that events will take place to honor the life and legacy of Jackson Lee.
