HOUSTON — According to authorities, a fire broke out Tuesday at the Harris County Criminal Justice Center in downtown Houston.
Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen said the small fire was in a jury room. Due to the smoke, some floors were evacuated.
A fairly heavy emergency vehicle response was spotted outside the building. Rosen advised people in the area to avoid the courthouse on Franklin Street between San Jacinto and Austin streets.
Rosen said the fire broke out on the 18th floor when jurors were having a small meal in a jury room and accidentally set napkins on fire.
Three floors -- the 17th, 18th and 19th -- were evacuated but have since been allowed to go back inside.
No injuries were reported.
