4 SWAT team members injured when helicopter makes hard landing in Eagle Lake, HCSO sheriff says

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the SWAT team members were participating in a nighttime training west of Houston.

EAGLE LAKE, Texas — A helicopter carrying four members of the Harris County Sheriff's Office SWAT team had to make a hard landing in Eagle Lake overnight, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

All four passengers were injured and have since been treated at a hospital and released according to the sheriff. A pilot and instructor were also on board but we're waiting for updates on whether they were hurt and how they're doing.

Gonzalez said the "scary situation unfolded overnight" during a nighttime training flight near Old Altair Road and Highway 90.  He called it a "hard landing/crash."

Other SWAT teams were participating in the training but the remainder of the course was canceled and all participants were sent home, Gonzalez said.

The Federal Aviation Administration and Texas DPS will investigate the incident.
