HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 13-year-old was taken into custody last week after leading constable deputies on a chase in the Spring area, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office.

Constable Mark Herman said it started when constable deputies tried to pull over a stolen vehicle on Hirschfield Road near where it meets Aldine Westfield Road.

According to Herman, the driver refused to stop and led them on a brief pursuit in which the driver tried to hit a constable deputy with the vehicle. The constable deputy was able to get out of the way and wasn't injured, Herman said.

They were able to stop the vehicle but they said three people got out and ran away. After a brief foot chase, all three were taken into custody and identified as 13 and 14-year-old boys.

According to a photo posted to Pct. 4's social media pages, the car chase appeared to have ended in a neighborhood.

The driver was identified as being 13 and he had an ankle monitor on at the time, Herman said. The constable said the teen had been previously charged with two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, criminal trespassing, evading arrest and burglary.

"All three suspects were arrested and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center. The driver was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and evading in a motor vehicle. The two juvenile passengers were charged with evading arrest," Herman said.

It's unclear if anyone was injured in the incident.
