The chief of staff at the Harris County Sheriff's Office was released on bond after being charged with injury to a child.
Spencer was accused of assaulting his teenage son during an argument at his home last year.
According to court documents, Spencer slammed his son against a wall and threw a gun case at the boy's back as he ran down the stairs, causing him to fall. This allegedly happened in September.
The boy called for his mother to pick him up and she's the one who called 911, court records show.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said this about the case: "While I'm not aware of all the facts in this case ... I've known and worked with Jason for years and based on what we know at this time, I have every confidence that the charges will not be sustained."
He went on to say he'll continue to monitor the investigation.
