DENTON, Texas — The University of North Texas, one of the most respected music schools in the country, has a little more to brag about, as the four-time Grammy Award-winning country singer Lyle Lovett is their current artist-in-residence.
On Wednesday, Lovett held two opening Q&As at UNT's College of Music, open to the public, for students at the college and students pursuing an MBA in the school's music business program.

Lovett, 66, has been active in country music since 1980, recording 14 albums and releasing 25 singles. He got his start in College Station, playing at various bars while attending Texas A&M University.
Lovett's awards include a Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Album. He released his last album, "12th of June," in 2022. He's also had a considerable acting career, performing in movies such as "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and shows such as "Blue Bloods."
