Gas leak caused by construction shuts down Garth Road in Baytown
CenterPoint Energy has been notified of the leak and crews are working to fix it, the fire department said. It's unclear how long repairs will take.
BAYTOWN, Texas — A gas leak prompted officials to close down Garth Road between Archer Road and Santavy Street Saturday afternoon.
The Baytown Fire Department first posted about the leak at 12:55 p.m. They said the leak was caused by construction work hitting the gas line.
CenterPoint Energy has been notified of the leak and crews are working to fix it, the fire department said. It's unclear how long repairs will take.
Authorities ask residents to take alternate routes and avoid the area if possible.
