HOUSTON — The Houston Health Department is giving away some free portable air conditioners to seniors, people with disabilities and caregivers of disabled children.
Harris County residents who are 60 and older or who have a disability are eligible to apply by calling the Harris County Area Agency on Aging at 832-393-4301.
They have approximately 200 air conditioners to give out. Recipients will also receive information and help installing the portable ACs.
Only people who have never received an air conditioner unit through the department are eligible to apply.
