HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Heavy rain and high water prevented some drivers from filling up at a gas station in west Harris County on Friday.
All Abraham Bustamonte could do was wait and watch as other drivers risked rising waters. Some vehicles made it through while others' vehicles stalled.
"...High water, all these cars keep on going and they get stuck in the water. I don't know why they go through it." Bustamonte said.
Another driver, Jade Cooper couldn't decide what to do so she got on FaceTime with her mom to get a second opinion. "I think she should give it a try..." said her mother.
Flooding is not uncommon here. When it rains hard enough, Mayde creek overflows and causes a mess of problems for those passing through.
But it doesn't mean drivers are used to it. "Either I turn around or drive through the flood." said Jade Amma who sat in her car for almost three hours Friday, weighing her options.
"The trucks can make it, but the smaller ones, if they made it, if they are good...I don't know, I'm scared." she said.
Some of the cars were towed out of the water but other vehicles drove through without problems.
