HOUSTON It s a nightmare come true for a family who learned that their husband and father, 45-year-old Tam Graham, was shot to death in the parking lot of their apartment complex.

It happened at the Lakeshire Place Apartments on El Dorado near Eastcape around 3:30 a.m. when witnesses reported hearing three gunshots.

Graham, often referred to by his nickname Angel, was found by his son Steven. He was slumped over in his white truck early Friday morning.

It was personal we don t know who did it, why they did it but he was shot twice and then stabbed in the chest and left to die, Steven Graham said.

Graham had been cleaning out his truck before he left to work to deliver papers for the Houston Chronicle, a job he had for more than 20 years.

All three of us me my husband, my son would go downstairs up, warm our trucks up, empty them out from the day before and head out our own way, Carrie Graham, the victim's wife, said.

Detectives said someone approached him and shot him from behind.

We were married almost 25 years, my husband was murdered this morning by a coward, Carrie Graham said.

But his family said Graham had no enemies and can t understand why someone would take his life.

I m the one that found him this morning and that s the hardest thing for anyone to have to go through. My best friend in the whole world is gone. I don t know who did it, said Steven Graham, the victim s son.

At this time, detectives don t have a motive, and are checking to see if there might be surveillance video that could help.

It doesn t appear that anything was disturbed within the truck and doesn t appear to be anything missing from his person at this point in time, said Brian Evans with HPD Homicide.

Graham worked two jobs, the other as a contractor with Dish Network, to support his family, who is now coping with their loss.

That s what he did every day, grinded, Steven said. He s my hero. Without him I wouldn t be who I am on this day.

Detectives are looking for whoever is responsible for Graham s murder.

Graham was an everyday hero, who was a hero everyday to his family.
