Escaped Montgomery County inmate Britt Privatte captured near Spring

An inmate who escaped a jail north of Houston early last week is back in custody after he was spotted in the Spring area, officials said.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas An inmate who escaped a jail north of Houstonearly last weekis back in custody after he was spotted in the Spring area, officials said.

The Montgomery County Sheriff s Office said inmate Britt Privatte was captured in Harris County near I-45 North and Cypresswood Drive shortly after midnight Wednesday.

Officials said Privatte was walking from a hotel, and when investigators moved in, he ran into a nearby wooded area to try and get away. The Harris County Sheriff s Office used police dogs to track down the suspect, who was later spotted in a tree. He jumped down to try and run but was soon captured and bittenby a K-9.

The inmate was taken to the hospital to get treated for the dog bite and was then transferred back to the Montgomery County Jail.

MSCO said the Texas Rangers and the U.S. Marshalls Office assisted in following-up on tips that helped lead to Privatte s arrest.

It was March 17 when Privatte, 40, escapedfrom ajail in Montgomery County. Officials believed inmates gave him a boost over a wall, butit was unclear if anyone on the outside was helping him.

During the investigation and search, officials charged 11 inmates with hindering apprehension. In addition, one person in the Cleveland, Texas area was charged with tampering with evidence. Investigators said other charges could be filed as more information about Privatte s escape surfaces.

Privattewas in jail for his involvement in bank robberies in Montgomery, Harris and Fort Bend counties.
